Blocker Rolls

Urethane Blocker Rolls
Core Construction
The durability and stability of a blocker roll depend on the strength and precision of its core. The core must be able to withstand high coil loads without bending or going out of tolerance.
- Core Materials: High-strength steel or stainless steel for structural stability
- Diameter & Wall Thickness: Calculated to prevent deflection under coil weight and line pressure
- Precision Machining: Journals and bearing seats held to ±0.001" for accurate fit
- Dynamic Balancing: Ensures smooth operation at high line speeds and reduces bearing wear
- Available Sizes: Custom diameters and lengths to fit your coil line’s requirements
Urethane Covering
The covering is the critical contact surface that interacts directly with your material. It must protect the sheet while enduring constant impact and load.
- Durometer Range: 80A–95A Shore A, selected for impact resistance and low compression set
- Surface Finish: Smooth ground to avoid marking; optional textures for specific material handling needs
- Performance Properties:
- High tear strength for edge contact
- Superior abrasion resistance compared to rubber
- Maintains shape under repeated heavy loading
- Bonding Method: Grit-blasted core, primer adhesive, and heat-cured urethane to prevent delamination
Performance in Coil Processing
-
In a coil processing line, blocker rolls serve as both protectors and stabilizers. They help control sheet position, prevent defects, and handle the repetitive forces of start/stop operations.
- Prevent scratches, dents, or marring of the surface
- Absorb shock from coil start/stop sequences
- Maintain dimensional accuracy under continuous use
- Resist chemical attack from oiled sheet surfaces
- Prevent scratches, dents, or marring of the surface
Maintenance & Recovering Services
Proper maintenance and timely recovering extend the life of your investment. Our blocker rolls are designed for multiple recover cycles without loss of core integrity.
- Recovering: Worn coverings stripped, cores inspected, and new urethane applied to OEM or upgraded specifications
- Turnaround Options: Standard and expedited service available to minimize downtime
- Inspection: Runout, diameter, and journal condition checked before returning to service
Applications
Blocker rolls are used wherever coil-fed material needs controlled handling and surface protection in high-output environments.
- Steel and aluminum coil processing lines
- Metal stamping operations
- Roll forming systems
- Automotive metal component production
