Table Rolls & Bed Rolls

These support rolls are associated with loop cars. These rolls are 4” to 6” diameter and are not driven. A common practice is to support the entry pass into and or perhaps out of a loop car on rolls spaced 5 or 6 feet apart. Table rolls may also be floor rolls, Billy rolls, and Pass line rolls.

Typical Hardness: (90-95 Durometer, Shore A)

What are Loop Cars?

There are two types of loopers, a vertical looper and a horizontal looper. Vertical loopers move the steel in a vertical direction and are generally in an upwards position. Horizontal loopers transport the steel from one side to the other of the steel mill horizontally. The horizontal looper is employed, especially when steel must move through numerous processing stations to get to their temporary storage location. Loop cars have a simple purpose in the manufacturing process. The equipment manages the material in a steel processing mill by regulating the movement and processing of steel. These looper cars comprise a set sequence of table and bed rolls that assist in moving steel across the mill. This decreases the risk of product defect and improves the quality of the final steel product. This is because the product travels quickly during the process, decreasing the time consumed during processing and improving quality.
