Core Construction

Carry-over performance depends on a rigid, accurately machined core that resists deflection and vibration under load.

  • Core Materials: Steel, stainless steel, or aluminum in solid or tubing construction.
  • Precision Machining: Journals and bearing seats manufactured or restored to print for accurate fit and long bearing life.
  • Journal & Shaft Services: Shaft replacement or repair, weld buildup, and hydraulic press removal/installation to return cores to serviceable condition.
  • Dynamic Balancing: Balanced after machining and shaft work for smooth operation and reduced vibration at speed.
  • Complete Assemblies: Rolls can be supplied ready to install with shafts, bearings, couplings, and urethane covers.

Urethane Covering

The urethane interface is engineered for stable transport on dry or oily strip while protecting sensitive finishes.

  • Durometer Range: Custom hardness, typically 90–95 Shore A for shape retention and wear life in continuous service.
  • Surface Finish: Rough-ground or textured surfaces; specified roughness of Ra 0.6–1.4 µm for reliable grip on oily or wet materials.
  • Grooved Options: Diamond, helix, herringbone, spiral, chevron, vertical or horizontal grooves, checkerboard razor slots, and non-directional crepe profiles to tune traction and fluid management.
  • Performance Properties: High abrasion resistance, load-bearing strength, impact absorption, and non-marring contact with steel and aluminum.
  • Bonding & Cure: Grit-blasted cores, primer adhesives, and heat-cured urethane for durable adhesion and delamination resistance.

  • Recovering: Old coverings stripped, cores inspected and refurbished, and new urethane applied to original or upgraded specifications.
  • Rebuild Process: Cleaning and straightening, bearing and housing removal, UT and Wet MAG inspections with supplied reports, recover and grind to print, reassembly with new or reconditioned components.
  • Balancing & Finishing: Static and dynamic balancing; finishes ground and polished to specified Ra and groove geometry.
  • Service Options: Standard and expedited turnaround with pickup and delivery.
